Hogan’s death was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by promoter Eric Bischoff. According to TMZ, medics were dispatched to his Clearwater, Florida home on Thursday morning regarding a “cardiac arrest.”

Born Terry Bollea, Hulk Hogan became one of the most recognizable professional wrestlers of all time. He won the World Wrestling Entertainment championship six times. His wrestling career began in 1977 and took off when he signed with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in 1983. He headlined eight out of the first nine editions of WrestleMania. His 1988 WWF The Main Event match with André the Giant, his mentor, holds the American viewership record for wrestling with 33 million viewers.

In the ’90s, Hogan pursued an acting career. He had cameos in Buena Vista Pictures’ (now Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures) Spy Hard (1996) and Muppets From Space (1999). He appeared in an episode of Mickey Mouse Club. After returning to wrestling, he continued to make film appearances and cameos, including in the “WrestleMania” episode of ABC’s The Goldbergs in 2019. He had a voice role in Gnomeo & Juliet (2011).

Hogan starred in Thunder in Paradise, a 1993 movie and 1994 TV series also starring Chris Lemmon and Carol Alt. The series was produced out of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and primarily filmed at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Other Walt Disney World locations used for filming included EPCOT, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Hulk Hogan’s handprints are in front of the Chinese Theatre (Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
