Universal Studios Japan is celebrating the grand opening of the Minion Park expansion, which includes Illumination’s Villain-Con: Minion Blast, with several new Minions-themed snacks.
Evil Eats

Evil Eats is a new food location that opened on the same day as the rest of the Minion Park expansion. The exterior is a brick building with a bright orange and purple sign.

Guests enter the building from a set of double doors facing the main walkway. A sign with the location’s food offerings stood outside the doors, and Team Members wearing orange and purple costumes were waiting nearby.

Evil Eats is a quick service restaurant, so there is only an ordering counter inside with no seating area. The walls are decorated with pop-style art of several villains featured prominently in the Villain Con: Minion Blast attraction, such as El Macho and Scarlet Overkill. A large fixture attached to the ceiling over the counter has purple lights running across the outer edge.

Minions Food Reviews

There are a total of four new Minions snack items available for guests to try. Three of them are listed on the menu at Evil Eats, while the fourth can be found at Delicious Me! The Cookie Kitchen. Also available around the park are Dave’s Villain-Con Popcorn Bucket and Bob’s Villain-Con Drink Bottle, as seen in the picture above.
Villain-Con Donut Burger – ¥1,200
BBQ Pork & Bacon

Just like it appears in pictures, this burger is made with two large donuts as the bun, with the pork and bacon sitting in the middle. The center donut hole has a chocolate Villain-Con coin.
The donuts are both very sweet, as they are covered in a strong sugary glaze. The sweetness contrasts with the BBQ pork and cheese on the inside, but not necessarily in the best way. The donuts are so sweet that a complete bite with the rest of the “burger” flavors is a little jarring. But, we do give it a point for the size being huge, and we appreciate that it comes in a Villain-Con-themed box.

Minion Donut – ¥850
Banana Cream

The next item is a donut designed to look like a classic yellow Minion. The donut is served in a unique box resembling Clive, the robot sidekick of Balthazar Bratt.
Out of all the new Minions food items, this was probably our favorite. The whole donut is filled with banana cream, and you get that banana flavor in every bite. It did not taste too artificial, and the donut itself was fresh. We appreciated that this donut was not nearly as sweet as the donuts used as the bun for the burger, so it feels more like a pleasant snack than a heavy dessert.

Evil Minion Donut – ¥850
Blueberry

This second donut is a purple color, representing the Evil Minions. This one also comes in a unique wrapper with the mouth of an Evil Minion on the front, though it is not a hard box like some of the other offerings.
The appearance of this donut is very cute, and the purple color makes for some great photos. While not described in detail, the eye in the middle has the texture of a marshmallow, and the blueberry jam is filled in the center. Overall, this was still solid, but not as great as the banana Minion Donut. The blueberry flavor tasted a little more artificial here, and this one wasn’t as light as the other donut texture.

Blue Hawaii Frappe with Stuart Bucket with Spoon – ¥1,150

This last item is only available at Delicious Me! The Cookie Kitchen, instead of Evil Eats, but it was released at the same time as the other new snack options. The cup features Stuart posing with an Eliminator-X, the blaster used by guests during the attraction. The Villain-Con logo surrounds him on the exterior of the orange souvenir bucket. It also comes with a yellow spoon featuring the Villain-Con logo.
Similar to the “Jaws” Blue Hawaii Frappe, we aren’t really sure why this is called a frappe. This snack is really a bucket of shaved ice topped with fruit. That being said, the Blue Hawaii flavor comes through every bite without being (Scarlet) overkill, and the fruit on the top was fresh. This would be a great snack for the summer months, as it is cool and refreshing. Plus, you get a fun souvenir to take home.
