BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, along with Ludo Studio, have announced a theatrical release date for the upcoming feature-length Bluey movie.
Bluey Feature Film Sets Release Date
The feature-length animated film will be released in theaters on August 6, 2027. A 2027 release year was announced back in 2024.
The CG-animated feature is written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios. The film is also produced by Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie) and co-directed by Richard Jeffrey (Bluey, series 1-3). Brumm is also executive producer alongside Justine Flynn for BBC Studios, with Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson for Ludo Studio.
On the Disney side, the film will be overseen by David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, and his team.
Returning voice talent will include Melanie Zanetti as Mum (Chilli) and David McCormack as Dad (Bandit). The film will be the big-screen debut of Bluey and her family.
According to the original announcement from 2024, the film will “continue the adventures of Bluey, a loveable, inexhaustible blue heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad, and her little sister, Bingo.”
BBC Studios is financing and licensing the film, with theatrical distribution through Walt Disney Studios. The film is also being supported by the Australian government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, and support from the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital, and Visual Effects Incentive.
Late last year, Disney announced that Bluey would make her debut at the Disney Parks and aboard Disney Cruise Line. Bluey first appeared aboard the Disney Wonder back in January 2025, but has yet to appear in the parks.
