Although released on August 18, The Skeleton Dance ceramic mug is still available at 1901 in Disney California Adventure. As mentioned in the post, you must get access to 1901 in order to purchase the mug. The mug features iconic scenes from The Skeleton Dance, Disney’s 1929 Silly Symphony short film. The exterior includes art of several dancing skeletons in front of a graveyard setting, just like in the short.

The background is all gray, while the skeletons are reverse embossed in white. The bats flying overhead are also black. The mug is styled closer to a stein, with a handle shaped like a gnarled tree and a silver-tinted lid. There is a silver-colored owl sitting in the middle of the lid.

The Skeleton Dance

Four cartoon skeletons dance in a graveyard at night, with tombstones and bare trees in the background.

The Skeleton Dance is a six-minute long short, and was the first installment in the Silly Symphony series. Written, directed, and produced by Walt Disney himself, the short has notably become one of the most iconic cartoons to date. Per the description on Disney+, “A lively quartet of graveyard skeletons come out to play and dance the night away in this spooky Silly Symphony.”

1901 Lounge and Club 33

This blue door, adorned with ornate detailing and a number 33 sign above, marks the entrance to an exclusive club inspired by Disneyland’s Club 33. Flanked by lanterns and two potted plants, it evokes an app-like enchantment for those lucky enough to enter.

1901 is a Club 33-exclusive lounge located next to Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure. It was named for the year Walt Disney was born.

Walt Disney got the idea to open Club 33 after seeing VIP lounges at the 1964-64 New York World’s Fair, but he didn’t live to see the opening of the original location.

The first Club 33 location was found above Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland Park. The location also happened to be directly next to Walt Disney’s former apartment. There are other Club 33 locations around the world in each Walt Disney World park, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.

There is often a years-long waitlist for Club 33 membership, which costs thousands of dollars, and said list separate for Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. In addition to the themed clubs, members also get access to exclusive events and offerings, such as merchandise.
